The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

So how were people's Thanksgiving weekend, those who celebrate it? For the people that got a break at school, but don't celebrate Thanksgiving, how was your break?

Mine was good, I didn't get as much homework as I wanted done, but whatever, my semester is almost done.

I have like 2-3 weeks left before I go on my long break. Oh I baked a cake, my mom helped. It was this Orange and Chocolate 10 Layer Cake but the outside looked more like this: Homemade 14 Layer Cake

I wanted to decorate it, but the cake was so sweet that I opted to just put ganache on it instead of buttercream. I added leftover orange juice/zest mix to the chocolate ganache that I was going to use for the orange buttercream frosting. Unfortunately when I was assembling the cake, the first layer got ruined because I didn't let it cool enough so it was 9 layer cake instead of a 10 layer cake.

Side note: the song that was playing on my iTunes while I was writing most of this journal was Mars by Gustav Holst. It was pretty epic.

Another side note: Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. Yes, I'm watching it. No I don't think it's the most amazing thing ever, but I do find it amusing. I'm amazed how fast it got popular. I'm also amazed that there's quite a bit of cosplay and fan art of it already. Your thoughts on it?
