~Jiori-Seth posted a journal is response to someone's concern over dA's new choice of gender when you register. [link] Before one had the option of putting other as their gender, instead of male or female, currently you have to choose between male or female. `alexds1 stated that +spyed will work towards having an "other" option as well as an extended gender option.

Now I'm not gonna rant about this, because this is really part of a bigger picture, of discrimination in general. ~Jiori-Seth shared this link of a program that PBS aired years ago. It's called A Class Divided I think you guys should watch it. I watched it, I thought it was a very good lesson, one that people should learn. Here's where I put in my two cents.

I still cannot fathom why discrimination exists. When will people learn that we all have the same basic needs to survive, that we all have the same emotions, that we are essentially the same on the inside? I feel that the world would be better off if we were all blind, or had the same color skin. Skin color does not determine our intelligence, our talents, our faults. The only thing that skin color would contribute to our differences is how well we can block the sun, or some other biological instance.

The same thing with gender. Sure tests have been done that males develop differently from females, but everyone develops differently from everyone else. Whether one is male, female, or another gender, it also does not determine our level of intelligence, talent, etc. Yes there are differences in everything about us (body type, gender, skin color, etc.) across the board, but those differences are necessary to our survival as a specie. Don't shun differences because you don't understand them, make an effort to learn from what is different, you might be surprised to find out that these distinctions are not so big.

The song "Long Way To Go" by Gwen Stefani really speaks along the same lines. We really do have a long way to go because not enough people make an effort to eliminate these superficial prejudices. Hell even the people in the musical movie Interstellar 5555 seems more ideal than what we have now. This is another song that has a powerful message: (Don't) Give Hate A Chance by Jamiroquai.

On a side note, I'm ranting this to the world, not just you, my watchers. I'm also not saying that you guys discriminate other people, because I'm sure many of you, my watchers, don't.
